Aircraft Detailing Certification: Is It Worth It?

Is Aircraft Detailing Certification Worth It?

If you are considering getting certified in aircraft detailing, here is the honest answer: yes, it is worth it — but only if you choose the right program.

What Aircraft Detailing Certification Covers

A legitimate aircraft detailing certification should cover exterior washing and chemical safety, paint correction and oxidation removal, brightwork polishing, ceramic coatings, interior restoration, leather care, and business operations including pricing, insurance, and airport access. If the program you are considering does not cover all of these, it is not a complete certification.

What Certification Is Not

Aircraft detailing certification is not an FAA credential. The FAA does not regulate detailing. Any program claiming FAA approval for detailing is misleading you. What certification does is demonstrate to FBOs, charter operators, and aircraft owners that you have completed formal professional training — which matters enormously when you are trying to get ramp access and high-value clients.

Do Certified Detailers Actually Earn More?

Yes. FBOs actively seek certified professionals for vendor approval because it reduces their liability exposure. Charter operators under Part 135 prefer certified detailers for the same reason. Aircraft owners with expensive paint jobs — a repaint on a large cabin jet runs $80,000 to $150,000 — are not going to let an uncertified stranger compound their aircraft. Certification opens doors that informal training does not.

The Shiny Jets Certification

The Shiny Jets certification is the most comprehensive in the aircraft detailing industry. It includes completion of the full training curriculum, listing in the certified detailer directory, 12 months of the aircraft detailing pricing app, and ongoing support through the Shiny Jets community and the Aviation Detailing Association. Taught by Brett Berry, President of the Aviation Detailing Association, with 15+ years of hands-on experience.

How to Get Certified

Choose the program that fits your schedule — online self-paced, 5-day in-person masterclass in Ontario California, or the hybrid program combining both. Complete the curriculum. Receive your certification and directory listing. Most graduates are operational and generating revenue within 30 to 60 days of completing training.

``` Where to paste it — two options: **Option A — Add it to an existing page** in Shopify Admin → Pages → find the certification or about page → switch editor to HTML view → paste. **Option B — Claude Code prompt to create it as a new page:** ``` Using the Shopify Admin API for 619shinyjets.myshopify.com: Create a new page: Title: Is Aircraft Detailing Certification Worth It?
