Meet Aircraft Detailing AI: Shiny Jets Methods on Your Phone
Published October 2026 · By Brett Berry, founder of Shiny Jets
Aircraft Detailing AI is a phone app from Shiny Jets that diagnoses aircraft detailing problems from a photo or a quick description and walks you through the current Shiny Jets method to fix them. It is live now at $59.95 a month or $599 a year, and the same Detailing AI is included in Shiny Jets CRM Business ($89.95/month) and Business Annual ($899/year).
Prices as of October 2026. Get it at aircraftdetailing.ai or on the Shiny Jets store.
Why did we build Aircraft Detailing AI?
You're under a wing, there's a stain you've never seen before, the owner wants the airplane back by Friday, and I'm not answering my phone because I'm under a different wing. We've all been there.
Most detailing advice online is written for cars. Aircraft are different. There's bare and polished aluminum, acrylic windows, deice boots, composite parts, exhaust soot that laughs at car soap, and paint that costs a lot more than a bumper respray if you get it wrong.
When something unexpected comes up on the job, most detailers end up doing one of three things:
- Searching forums and getting five answers, three of them for a Honda Civic.
- Calling or texting someone more experienced and waiting.
- Guessing. (This is the expensive one.)
None of those are great when the aircraft is on the ramp and the clock is running. You need an answer built for aviation, and you need it now. So we took the methods I've used over 15 years of detailing aircraft and put them in an app on your phone.
What does Aircraft Detailing AI do?
Aircraft Detailing AI started inside Shiny Jets CRM. Now it has its own home at aircraftdetailing.ai, for detailers who want answers on the ramp without running the whole shop through a CRM. Here's what it does:
- Diagnoses from a photo or a description. Take a photo of the panel, window or seat, or type what you see. It covers paint, acrylic, brightwork, ceramic and interior issues, including haze, swirls, oxidation and stains, and gives you a likely diagnosis.
- Asks for what it needs. If it needs more detail, like the surface, the aircraft type or what you've already tried, it asks. It also gives you the questions to ask the owner before you quote.
- Walks you through the current Shiny Jets method. Step-by-step methods for exterior, brightwork, acrylic, ceramic and interior work, always leading with the latest method.
- Points you to the right products. Recommendations come from the products I use and trust, so you're not left with a vague "try a stronger cleaner."
- Knows the aircraft and its manuals. Name the type, and it checks what that aircraft's manuals recommend and what they forbid, and keeps the two apart.
- Knows when to stop. Crazing, structural damage, failed clearcoat, corrosion beyond polish: it tells you to stop and call maintenance, paint or a window specialist.
Think of it as having my methods in your back pocket, minus most of the bad jokes.
What kinds of questions can you ask it?
If it's a detailing problem on an aircraft, it's a fair question. Here are the kinds of questions it's built to answer:
- "There's black exhaust soot caked on the belly behind the engines and my usual wash isn't touching it. What's the method?"
- "The polished aluminum on this warbird has gone dull and cloudy. How do I bring it back without making it worse?"
- "Here's a photo of a cabin window. Is this scratching I can polish out, or is it crazing?"
- "What's the right way to clean and condition deice boots, and what should I never put on them?"
- "I'm seeing high spots after applying a ceramic coating. How do I fix them?"
- "Water spots won't come off the paint after a wash in hard water. What's my next step?"
- "There's a stain on the leather seat in this photo. What is it likely to be, and how do I clean it safely?"
- "Oxidized paint on an older piston single. Do I need to correct it, or will cleaning and protection be enough?"
- "What should I ask the owner before I quote this job?"
How does Aircraft Detailing AI work on your phone?
Nobody walks back to the office to open a laptop in the middle of a wash. Aircraft Detailing AI is built phone-first, and there's no app store involved:
- Buy it at aircraftdetailing.ai or on the Shiny Jets store. Checkout runs through the Shiny Jets store, and a paid order unlocks access automatically.
- Log in on your phone with the email address from your order.
- On iPhone, tap Share in Safari, then Add to Home Screen. On Android, open the Chrome menu, then Install app.
From then on it opens full screen from your home screen, one tap away. Use your camera to send a photo straight from the ramp or the cabin, read the answer, and get back to work. It's also a solid backup for newer techs, so they get a good starting answer instead of guessing.
Aircraft Detailing AI or CRM Business: which should you choose?
There are two ways to get Aircraft Detailing AI: on its own, or included in Shiny Jets CRM Business. It's the same Detailing AI either way.
| Option | Price | Aircraft Detailing AI | Also includes | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aircraft Detailing AI (standalone) | $59.95/month or $599/year | Included | Photo and text diagnosis, Shiny Jets methods, aircraft-type aware, installs to your home screen | Detailers who already have a system for running the business and want answers on the job |
| Shiny Jets CRM Business | $89.95/month | Included | AI quote drafts, quotes, invoices, jobs, crew app, Pricing Tool, up to 3 users, 0% platform fee on online payments | Detailers who want the AI plus everything to run the shop |
| Shiny Jets CRM Business Annual | $899/year | Included | Everything in CRM Business, billed once a year | Business users who want to pay yearly and save |
Quick way to decide:
- If you just want answers on the ramp, go standalone. Paying yearly ($599) instead of monthly ($719.40 over 12 months) saves $120.40.
- If you also want Shiny Jets CRM to run the business side, CRM Business gets you both for $30 a month more than the standalone monthly price. Business Annual at $899 saves $180.40 compared with 12 monthly payments.
- Already on CRM Business or Business Annual? You already have it. Log in and open Detailing AI.

Does Aircraft Detailing AI replace your manuals or training?
No. Aircraft Detailing AI gives guidance, and that guidance is advisory. It does not replace the aircraft's OEM AMM, PIM or POH or the judgment of an A&P/IA. You're the detailer on the job: test any method or product on a small, inconspicuous area first, and follow the aircraft manufacturer's and operator's requirements. Every airplane is different, and the AI can't feel the paint under your pad. The full terms are at aircraftdetailing.ai/terms.
It also isn't a substitute for learning the fundamentals. Shiny Jets in-person training teaches the hands-on skills; Aircraft Detailing AI helps you apply them when something unexpected shows up on the ramp.
