What is the 5-Day aircraft detailing training?

It is the full Shiny Jets program: five days in the hangar on real jets, plus the business setup most detailers spend their first year guessing at. You show up, you work, an instructor checks your work at every station, and you leave with the business side already running.

If the 3-Day Aircraft Detailing Training is the weekend version, the 5-Day is the whole build. Same hangar, same jets, same inspection standard, more skills and more business.

What does the 5-Day add over the 3-Day?

Four hands-on skills the 3-Day does not cover, plus the business sessions and the online course.

  • Dry ice cleaning. Taught on the last day. A cleaning method most detailers never get to run on a real jet.
  • Cabinet restoration. Bringing cabin cabinetry back, not just wiping it down.
  • Window restoration. Sanding and polishing unpressurized aircraft windows. One important line: pressurized and jet windows are not polished by detailers. They go to an A&P. We teach you where your job ends, too.
  • Paint wet sanding. Sanding aircraft paint to take down orange peel and restore gloss. It is the part of paint correction that separates people who own a polisher from people who know when to put it down.

On top of that you get four afternoon business setup sessions and lifetime access to the Shiny Jets online course.

What does each day of the course cover?

Day 1 is interior, Day 2 is cabin finish and exterior wash, Day 3 is paint correction and de-ice boots, Day 4 is protection and windows, and Day 5 is brightwork and the final practical.

  1. Day 1, interior: hangar safety and FOD discipline, maintenance interior cleaning, leather, seat belts, stitching and the full carpet progression (low-moisture and traditional extraction, steam on entry steps, encapsulation).
  2. Day 2, cabin and wash: cabinet restoration, final cabin tidy, aircraft maintenance wash with multiple wash flow methods, paint decontamination and the start of paint polishing.
  3. Day 3, paint correction: finish oxidation removal, paint wet sanding for orange peel and gloss, and de-ice boot stripping.
  4. Day 4, protection and windows: wax, polish wax, spray ceramic, full ceramic coating, and unpressurized window sanding and polishing.
  5. Day 5, dry ice and brightwork: dry ice cleaning, polishing brightwork with all-metal polish products, final inspection and the final practical sign-off.

A note on brightwork: not every leading edge is polished metal. Plenty are painted or covered with boots, and we teach you to identify the surface before you touch it.

What business setup is included?

Four afternoon sessions, 3:00pm to 5:00pm on Days 1 to 4. By Thursday evening you have:

  • A configured Shiny Jets CRM Business account with your services, pricing and intake forms
  • Your Shiny Jets Aircraft Detailer Directory listing live
  • A website plan with embed help for your CRM and quote forms
  • Marketing and pricing guidance for your local market

You also get 12 months of Shiny Jets CRM Business plus the Pricing App, which covers 300+ aircraft, so you can quote a jet you have never touched without guessing. Plan details are in Aircraft Detailing CRM Plans and Pricing.

5-Day vs 3-Day: which aircraft detailing course is right for you?

Take the 5-Day if you want every skill and the business set up for you. Take the 3-Day only if you already run a detailing business and cannot leave it for a week.

Starting from scratch? Read How to Start an Aircraft Detailing Business and you will see why that is a 5-Day conversation.

Who should take the 5-Day aircraft detailing training?

People starting from zero, auto, boat and RV detailers moving into aircraft, and anyone who wants the business side handled, not just the polishing. No experience is required. The online course gets you up to speed before you arrive.

How is the work checked?

Every student carries a Station Sign-Off Card. At the end of each station, an instructor inspects the work against a written standard and signs off, coaches and re-checks, or holds it for a redo. Day 5 ends with a final practical. If your work needs more time, you have 30 days to submit video of the corrected work. It is private hands-on training from Shiny Jets, not an FAA credential.

Who teaches the course?

Brett Berry, founder of Shiny Jets and author of Beyond Shiny: The Shiny Jets Approach to Aircraft Detailing. Brett has 18 years detailing jets and built Shiny Jets CRM because spreadsheets were losing him money.

What happens after the course?

You go home with written standard operating methods for the services you learned, your CRM running, your directory listing live and access to the active Shiny Jets online forum, where graduates trade questions about real jobs. Nobody figures out their first Gulfstream alone.

What do I need to bring?

Closed-toe non-marking shoes, work clothes, a water bottle, a notebook and a laptop for the afternoon sessions. Shiny Jets supplies the products, tools, pads, towels and PPE. Hotel: book the Ayres Inn in Chino, CA, about a 15-minute drive, and ask us for the Shiny Jets discount code when you register.
